We are back with the top stories of the week. After a long hiatus, we are back with some astounding news and unique face to face opportunity with a big name from the Japanese Adult Video industry. We started this segment to bring VR news which would add value to our readers and since there wasn’t a lot going on in the past few weeks, we chose to keep quiet. But we start it off again as Steam becomes the first mainstream VR media to accept VR porn, while SexLikeReal released data that now suggest VR games make more money than VR videos. Lastly, we take a look at Taka Kata’s one on one interview on Asian Boss, as he opens up on his life, career, values, love and ambition. If, by chance, we do miss any eventful news, please do post it in the comments so that other readers can use that information. So, without any delay, let’s get to it

#3 Steam will now host VR Porn Games

vr porn games on Steam
The Steam platform has played a pivotal role for Virtual Reality, acting as sort of an iTunes or Google Play Store for VR enthusiasts. Previously, it used to host a wide range of applications, games and other content that could be viewed using Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. There was strict policy in placed which banned the hosting of any pornographic or adult content, just like most mainstream app platforms today.

But, there has been a sudden turnaround now. Steam is now hosting nudity and adult content, which means that VR porn enthusiasts no longer need to surf websites looking to download games. They can just search on Steam for their favourite VR porn games. The news was recently released in an article in The Independent.

Instead of deciding which content is objectionable and which is not, Valve (which owns Steam) mentioned that they will only be banning content which are illegal. Valve’s Erik Johnson said “Valve shouldn’t be the ones deciding this. If you’re a player, we shouldn’t be choosing for you what content you can or can’t buy,” in a release on the Steam store. Given that a huge percentage of VR’s popularity goes to VR porn, it can only mean good things for the industry as a whole. We look forward to how this decision changes VR porn and Virtual Reality as a whole.

#2 VR Porn Games make more money than VR Porn

SinVR Game of Thrones update
SexLikeReal recently ran a report which concluded that VR porn games generate more money than VR porn. Their analysis stated that 481 VR games that released after 2016 generated about $50 million in revenue while it took about 6000 VR videos to generate the same amount of money. Though, this is only a small percentage of the $125 billion revenue that the gaming market is expected to hit in 2018, it shows the huge potential the industry has.
Another interesting point is that VR games and VR porn are the biggest consumer markets and really the main drivers behind virtual reality. Taking data from the Steam leak in July 6, they analysed that Steam generated the same amount of revenue from games at the VR porn market did in the same period. On the limitations of the market introduced by tube sites, Alex Novak, CEO of SexLikeReal, mentioned that “The biggest porn sites are tube streaming sites with a business model that sets back the whole industry by giving away allegedly stolen content for free, for the cost of watching third party ads — with little to no money going to the actual content producers. Luckily, the negative effect of these tube sites is less severe for VR porn.” Find more information on the topic on VentureBeat.

#1 Interview with JAV Legend Taka Kato

Taka Kato is a legendary name in Japanese Adult Video. In a recent interview on AsianBoss, he opened his heart about porn, love, life and more. Kato started acting when was 28 years old. He turns 60 next year and only retired from porn in 2013. he said to have worked on aprroximately 18,000-20,000 videos while sleeping with about 10000 women. The number of videos might seem a lot to people, but it’s down to the fact that in Japan content shot on the same day is broken down to several videos. He mentioned shooting for about 10,000 days in his career.
He entered the industry with a reason that might be beyond most of us. He wanted to make something of his life. So, he left his well-paying job in his hometown and finally made it to Tokyo. He tried his hand at different job interviews but kept getting rejected. In one interview for a film production company, he was rejected.
They said that for him the best thing to do was porn. Since, he was broke and basically living off the money his mother sent him, he was desperate to earn and return the money. So, he went looking for a job at a porn production company called Loco Vision.
There he started working as an assistant director. During the interview, when he was asked what he could do, he commented ‘anything’. Later on, the main cameraman got him his first three gigs in porn. While the first video only had him collecting the piss from a girl, the next videos gave him the opportunity to have sex on screen for the first time.
At that time, he was getting paid $100 per day. After his first sex scene, the supervisor advised him not to think much about it. Within three months, his monthly schedule was filled up completely.
There’s a myth that Kato invented the genre of squirting, but he mentioned that it was around long before he came in. In fact, in his personal life, he had never fingered a girl, because he thought it would be too disrespectful. He certainly went down on them but without getting his finger in there. His biggest teacher was the feedback he got directly from the women who he worked with. He would ask if something was pleasuring them or if it was uncomfortable.
When talking about his motivation he spoke about how his strict upbringing played a big part in driving him. The fact that he never got praised for a day in life drove him to achieve something that would make his grandmother and grandfather proud. Ironically, he went into porn. Even more ironic is how Japanese actors can think of excelling even in something such as porn. Shows a lot about the culture and why their brilliance and work ethic is respected throughout the world.
Speaking about his wife, who too was a porn star, he mentioned who he never really had the clichéd problems that Western porn couples tend to have. He never felt insecure since that would mean he didn’t have the right to do his job either.
