SLR released their new VR player for Windows a few days ago and though not a stable build yet, the new app is supposed to have a smoother performance, new design and better codecs support among other features.
New features in the app include:

  • Draggable windows in the video player interface
  • Use pin/unpin icon
  • While dragging the window you can zoom it with left thumbstick,
  • Switch to h265 right from the player
  • The player in now in same scene with the interface, no more “loading something awesome”.
Despite the new features, the app is still in beta phase and the developers are working with the controllers while looking for more inputs.

#3: NaughtyAmerica Friday release shifted to Saturday for this week

This isn’t a big news but still information for those with NaughtyAmericaVR subs. The VR porn major has announced on Reddit that there Friday release for the week will be shifted to Saturday.
Please note that this seems to be only for this week and does not represent a permanent change. The reaction that set off from this announcement was somewhat polarising though, with one section of users advocating the ‘beauty’ of NA, while some wanted to be more realistic. There was one more though, who had thoroughly had it with NA and wanted none of it. Interesting views and quite a bit of banter!

#2: SLR CEO Alex Novak and His Thoughts on

In an unlikely interview, SexLikeReal CEO Alex Novak opened up on what are his priorities with SLR and what made him choose to do a VR app while everybody else was doing a VR website.
Among other things, Novak also expressed how he believed that SLR is the ‘core hub of the VR porn community’. While not all might agree with the statement, his arguments do bear merit, considering that SLR helps by re-editing the videos to correct misalignment.

#1: Qualcomm revealed reference design Snapdragon 845 VR headset

Qualcomm snapdragon 845 VR headset
For our top news of the week, chipset manufacturing major Qualcomm recently released a new reference design for their Snapdragon 845 VR headset. The headset is touted to be capable of VR and AR.
The VR headset is based on its namesake system architecture and features 1024x1152 resolutions per eye. Considering the competitor is HTC Vive which has a per eye resolution of 1400x1600, it seems that Qualcomm’s debut in the VR might not be as much a firecracker.

The headset features two cameras looking inward with two other camera capturing movements outside of the headset. The inward cameras will basically work to track eye movement, which might be their trump card in the VR headset market since eye-movement tracking is not common with other VR headset.

The headset is also slated to feature 30% faster graphics and power efficiency, compared to its predecessors.
